Veduta di un'area lagunareVegetazione spontanea
Visite di scolaresche...visite di scolaresche, studenti.
Scolaresche al lavoro          Vegetazione che inizia a colonizzare la nuova laguna
Anatide         Vegetazione spontanea

What do we want to accomplish with the creation of this park? Two things at the same time, the formation of a coastal damp area next to the estuary of the river Tiber, and a structure which will guide the visitor toward the most possible close contact with the environment of the Mediterranean coast (Mediterranean bush, dune's vegetation, coastal pools….) so as to make him comprehend the concept of ecology and the mechanism which regulate the natural environment.
To achieve it the CHM as been designed as two different parts, different, next to each other and combined. The first, the larger of the two is the reconstruction of a large Mediterranean lagoon
With humid zones whit a different contents of salinity, spaced with Mediterranean dunes put up as an oasis it is dedicated mostly at the conservations of the species the second one will be an artificial area whit an anatidae center and with a visitor area where shows; technological teaching ; and open air playing activities are carried out together with fixed structures to accommodate birds ; didactical ponds , and paths complete with aromatic plants for blind people and a structure for reptiles and amphibious dedicated to educative and scientific purpose.
And only after two years since the massive works begun (the place was an open air dumping place)
Many animal species made their appearance (and more than 140 bird species have been seen also some very rare ones such as the Audouin's Gull (Larus audouinii), the Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis), the Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides), the Collared Pratincole (Glareola pratincola), the Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus), Yellow-billed Egret (Egretta intermedia) seen only once before in Italy , the Osprey (Pandion haliaetu).
The vegetation has started to colonize the place and so we can see the canna palustre, tifa, gaggiolo d'acqua, miriofillo, pancrazio giving color and hiding places for the animals .
From the beginning the place is been open to the visit of schools ,teachers, journalists and passer-by. All wonting to see such a project ,that is remaking a natural habitat so close to the city .
In the spring of 2001 the "Zigolo news" was born .
With the realization of the CHM we will have the chance to contact thousands of people each year, and persons that come in just for curiosity , will exit the place whit a more awareness of the harms that man makes to the environment .
